With the “Alto Mayo Tarapoto Tour”, you can enjoy nature while discovering the wildlife of the 4 most visited destinations of Tarapoto and the entire jungle in San Martin.  Tarapoto, a city in central-eastern Peru on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, is the most populated city in the department of San Martin and the average annual maximum temperature is 29 °C.

On this tour you will visit one of the most beautiful representatives of the high Amazon jungle: the Alto Mayo area, bathe in the crystalline waters of the Tioyacu River headwaters or walk through its spectacular green areas.

You will see different types of exotic birds such as macaws or toucans in the exhibition of the Chuchu center and we will have a tasting of regional drinks. Then we will visit one of the Orchidariums with the largest number of different orchids in the world, the Orchidarium of Moyobamba and also, you will bathe in the thermal baths of San Mateo.

SHORT ITINERARY

• Day 01: Alto Mayo

Alto Mayo (07.30 am – 07.30 pm)

• 07.30 am We will pick you up at your hotel to go to Rioja and in the afternoon to Moyobamba. In Rioja we will go first to visit the source of the Tioyacu River, where we can take a bath and walk through the green areas of the area. The second stop will be at the Chuchu Center, a tourist recreation center where you can see an exhibition of exotic birds such as various types of toucans and macaws.
• We will also have a tasting of regional drinks (not included in the price). After that, we will have lunch with a tourist menu that includes several regional food specialties and in the afternoon we will go to Moyobamba to visit the Orchidarium of the city.
• There, a specialized guide will explain some particularities of these beautiful plants and if you wish, you will be able to buy some of them. Finally, we will visit the thermal baths of San Mateo where you can make a circuit of 1 hour of duration by the different pools of the enclosure containing therapeutic waters at different temperatures.
• After that, we will return to Tarapoto arriving at 07.30 pm at night leaving you at your hotel.
