Description Ballestas Islands Tour in Ica

With the Ballestas Islands Tour in Ica, Paracas National Reserve & Pisco Route”, you will get to know Ica in a private service, we will visit its valleys, crops, vineyards and wineries; but also the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas National Reserve – fauna and flora. A tour for those who love nature, beaches, animal watching, good wine and Pisco.

ICA, founded in 1563, was the first place of the New Castile or Viceroyalty Peru. Ica is known for the region of sand and sea, oasis and valleys, it is a Creole land par excellence where the Peruvian Pisco is born.

It has one of the most beautiful and impressive deserts of Peru, a privileged land that welcomes its visitors with its coasts full of charms bordered by the BALLESTAS ISLANDS: an eco-tourist place, they are a group of islands near the city of Pisco. They are composed of rocky formations where you can find an important marine fauna, with guano birds such as the guanay, the booby, penguins, sea lions and the waders. The North, Central and South Ballestas Islands stand out, all in the Ballestas Islands Tour in Ica.

THE PARACAS NATIONAL RESERVE is a protected area of Peru located in the province of Pisco, in the department of Ica. It was created with the purpose of conserving a portion of the sea and the Peruvian desert, giving protection to the diverse species of wild flora and fauna that live there. It preserves a representative sample of the marine ecosystems of the cold sea of the Peruvian Current or Humboldt Current, considered by specialists as the most productive on Earth.

SANDBOARDING, is an extreme sport that involves riding across or down a sand dune while standing on a board, either with both feet strapped on or while standing loose, unstrapped. It can also be practiced sitting or lying on your belly or back. The BUGGI, or sandbox is a vehicle designed to ride on sand. It usually has a light chassis, a body without a hard top and large wheels. Buggies are mainly intended for people who enjoy driving or designing this type of vehicle. Thanks to their large wheels, they are often used in coastal areas and deserts, where they can be driven freely and jump between the many dunes.

ICA treasures many secrets in the desert. The valley abounds with good grapes for making pisco and wine, and it is here that the first South American vineyards were harvested, brought by the Spaniards from across the Atlantic. Ica stands out for its extensive agriculture and agro-export, located in the middle of the Pacific Desert. Important are the cultivation of grapes, asparagus, date palms, pecan nuts, cotton, mangoes, avocados, among many other products, many of which make the valley one of the most successful cases of agro-export.

WINE from Ica is a beverage obtained from grapes through the alcoholic fermentation of its must or juice, and PERUVIAN PISCO is a liquor obtained by distilling fermented Pisco grapes brought by the Spanish conquistadors to the fertile lands of South America.

It was made from grapes that were not used for wine production. Peruvian pisco is made only from selected grape varieties grown in certain regions of coastal Peru. The varieties of Pisco grapes that are used to make Peruvian Pisco are non-aromatic, among them; Quebranta, Mollar and Negra común and aromatic such as; Moscatel, Albilla, Italia and Torontel. Here we will learn the elaboration of the wine: Harvest, destemming, vatting and cold maceration, alcoholic fermentation and devatting.

The wine industry was prosperous until the 17th century, when the Spanish crown prohibited the importation of Peruvian wines, since they competed with those from the peninsula.
