Full Day Gocta

  • Tours to Gocta 08.15 am We start the trip to Gocta from Chachapoyas heading northeast for 1 hour to the village of Cocachimba. Upon arrival at the village, we will visit the community tourism association to register the visit and receive orientation prior to the hike, we will also make reservations for the typical regional lunches that are offered.
  • The hike to Gocta will be 5. 4 km during 5 hours (there is the option of renting horses to alternate the journey), nature will offer you some of the best of it in this excursion; such as primary forest, orchids, medicinal plants, timber trees, birds like the Masked Tragon (Trogon Personatus), the endemic Marbled Woodpecker (Picumnus Steindachneri), or the National Bird Cock-of-the-Rock (Rupicola Peruviana), you can also see Yellow-tailed Plover Monkeys (Lagotrix Flavicauda), among others.
  • In addition, you can see the daily life of the Cocachimba Community, their sugar cane processing mills, archaeological remains of the Chachapoyas and evidence of geological formations from millions of years ago.
  • Upon arrival to the village of Cocachimba after visiting the waterfall, you will enjoy a typical lunch previously reserved. The villagers have rescued ancestral traditions of textile production, wood carvings and ceramics that they offer to the public as sourvenirs (there is always time for shopping).
  • Then we will return or leave for Chachapoyas at approximately 5.30 pm.
