SHORT ITINERARY

Day 01: Arrival in Iquitos – Visit to Nanay Market – Visit to Monkey Island – Night hike.

Day 02: Sunrise on the Amazon River – Visit to the Yaguas Tribe – Transfer to the airport.

DAY 1

DAY 01: ARRIVAL IN IQUITOS – VISIT TO MONKEY ISLAND (106 MASL)

Your experience begins at the Iquitos Francisco Secada Vignetta International Airport, where a representative will welcome you. From there, you will travel by vehicle to the port town of Nanay (Bellavista), a picturesque place located on the banks of the river. Upon arrival, you will board a comfortable boat to embark on a journey of approximately 2 hours downstream on the Amazon River. During the trip, you can enjoy the impressive scenery and observe the fascinating local fauna, such as caimans, turtles, herons, and the iconic pink dolphins, among other species that inhabit this vast region.

Just 15 minutes from the Lodge, you will visit Monkey Island, a special place where you will have the opportunity to interact with various species of monkeys, such as sloths, capuchin monkeys, and titi monkeys. This is an ideal place for nature and wildlife lovers, as you will also see snakes like anacondas and boas, as well as the mata mata turtle. The island is also home to colorful birds like toucans and macaws, which will add a vibrant touch to your adventure.

In the afternoon, an exciting experience awaits: observing pink dolphins, one of the most iconic species of the region. You will enjoy a peaceful boat ride on the river while the dolphins play and jump around. If you’re brave, you will have the opportunity to swim alongside these majestic mammals in their natural habitat, creating unforgettable memories.

As night falls, the Amazon jungle reveals its other face. You will take a night excursion to observe caimans in their natural habitat. Guided by experts, you will explore the dark trails of the jungle, learning about the behavior of these reptiles and the Amazonian ecosystem while the jungle’s nocturnal sounds add a mysterious touch to the experience.

After a day full of adventures, you will return to the Lodge to relax and enjoy dinner. To conclude the day, you will spend the night in a comfortable and safe tent, surrounded by the natural sounds of the jungle. This tranquil and unique environment will allow you to rest deeply and prepare for the next day filled with new emotions.

DAY 2

DAY 02: VISIT TO THE YAGUAS TRIBE – TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT

We wake up with the first rays of light, as the jungle comes alive around us. The calm water reflects the soft colors of the sunrise, creating an impressive visual spectacle. The sounds of nature surround us: the vibrant songs of birds, the rustle of branches under the weight of animals, and the soft murmur of the river, inviting us to immerse ourselves in the serenity of the Amazon.

Aboard a boat, we start an excursion to observe wildlife, navigating the river channels and delving into the secrets of the jungle. During the journey, we had the chance to spot brightly colored exotic birds like toucans and macaws and mammals that inhabit this ecosystem, connecting deeply with nature and its diversity.

Our next stop takes us to the impressive giant ceibas, true guardians of the Amazon jungle. These majestic trees, which can reach heights of up to 70 meters, leave us breathless with their imposing presence. Each of these trees is a witness to the jungle’s resilience and vitality.

We continue our adventure with a boat ride along the majestic Amazon River. The vastness of this river is overwhelming, and as we navigate, we marvel at the biodiversity that unfolds before our eyes. Birds flying over the water, reflections of the jungle in its dark waters, and the feeling of being at the heart of one of the richest ecosystems on the planet.

During the journey, we make a stop to admire the fascinating Victoria Regia aquatic plant, the largest in the world. Its enormous floating leaves and beautiful flowers create a visual spectacle that leaves us in awe and grateful to witness such natural beauty.

Later, we have the privilege of visiting a native Yagua community, where we immerse ourselves in their traditional way of life. We learn about their customs, their ancestral connection to the jungle, and how they keep their traditions alive through the years. The hospitality and deep knowledge of their culture provide us with an enriching and moving experience.

Finally, after a day full of adventures, discoveries, and unforgettable moments, we head to the airport or the hotel to conclude this incredible journey. We carry with us indelible memories of the Amazon jungle, its vibrant landscapes, warm people, and unique biodiversity.
