DESCRIPTION

Description Tour to Kuelap Chachapoyas

With the “Kuelap Chachapoyas Full Day Tour”, you will visit the impressive archaeological complex of Kuelap, belonging to the pre-Inca Chachapoyas culture. From the top, the green landscape will show us that nature privileged this place, dressed in the impressive flora and fauna, will offer us an adventure trip very close to heaven.

This mountainous jungle located in the Amazon, served as a defense against some ethnic rebels due to its location and structure. Its mountains, surrounded by dense vegetation, show from afar a great stone wall of 20 meters high that protects the city. This fortress has only three entrances, all in the form of narrow, walled alleys.

The keep

Built on the second level, very close to the northern zone of the Architectural Complex, this structure that measures approximately seven meters high is considered the tallest construction in Kuelap. It is believed that it served as a defensive structure with a spectacular panoramic view of the area, thus guarding against possible attacks from adjacent towns. The Tower is part of the Kuelap Chachapoyas Tour.

The Inkwell

Its characteristic inverted cone shape makes it a ritual construction that served as an astronomical observatory. Its construction has a height of 5.5 meters and a diameter of 13.7 meters. The internal distribution of this structure shows a bottle-shaped chamber that, according to studies by researchers, shows that it served as a chulpa or mausoleum.

The Castle

Its designed rectangular shape, with three superimposed platforms, makes it a distinguished and important construction in Kuelap. It is believed that it was the home of a hierarch (high rank in the church) and high officials of the area.
