The best time to visit Tambopata is during the dry season, from May to October, as temperatures range between 10°C and 35°C. During this period, the weather is more stable, wildlife sightings are better, there is access to previously flooded areas, and less concern about mosquito-transmitted diseases. However, be prepared for occasional rains and book in advance due to higher visitor numbers.

For your visit to Tambopata, it is essential to bring:

For visiting Tambopata and other areas of the Peruvian Amazon, certain vaccinations are recommended, although they are not mandatory. These recommendations include:

  • Hepatitis A: Recommended for all travelers to Peru due to potential exposure through food or water.
  • Hepatitis B: Recommended for all travelers, especially those who may be exposed to blood or bodily fluids, such as in medical situations, tattoos, or sexual contact with the local population.
  • Typhoid: Advised vaccination for travelers to the Peruvian Amazon, especially in rural areas where there is a risk of exposure through food or water.

It is essential to consult a doctor 4 to 6 weeks before your trip for specific recommendations based on your health history and travel destinations.

We recommend avoiding drinking water directly from the river, lake, or taps. You can find drinking water at dispensers and pitchers distributed throughout the lodge, as well as a variety of other beverages available. All water supply provided by the lodge goes through an ozone-based purification process. Additionally, we ask that you turn off the water flow while soaping and rinsing to reduce unnecessary water usage.
