With the Tarapoto Hot Springs Tour or “Tarapoto Joven Plus” tour, you can enjoy nature while discovering the wildlife of the 4 most visited destinations in Tarapoto and the entire jungle in San Martin.  Tarapoto, a city in central-eastern Peru on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, is the most populated city in the department of San Martin and the average annual maximum temperature is 29 °C.

It is designed to have adrenaline-filled experiences practicing adventure activities, you will enjoy the exciting experience of a night walk through the jungle and see nocturnal species in their natural habitat, you will hike through the middle of the jungle to bathe in the waterfall of Carpishuyacu.

Along the way, you will cross a small creek on a raft and bathe in some thermal baths. You will descend the wall of a waterfall using a rope and with the help of a guide specialized in the activity of Rappel, you will go by canoe through the protected reserve of Santa Elena and hike through the interior of the caves of Palestina.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Night Jungle Adventure (06.30 – 09.30 pm)

  • 06.30 pm Pick up at the hotel when it is getting dark.
  • We will head to the small Cocha Boscosa near Tarapoto where the tour will take place. Once there we will provide you with boots and a helmet and our guide specialized in nocturnal species will give you a short introductory talk.
  • Afterwards, we will start the excursion through the small lagoon where you will be able to see different species of amphibians and nocturnal reptiles. We will finish the tour two hours later and at 9.30 pm we will be back at your hotel for dinner.

PERNOCTE: Hotel – RIOSOL.

BREAKFAST – HOTEL/BRUNCH AND DINNER – PASSENGER

Day 2: Day Trekking in Jungle (09.00 am – 04.30 pm)

  • 09.00 am We will pick you up at your hotel to go to the Carpishuyacu Waterfall.
  • After 40 minutes by car we will arrive at the entrance of the reserve where the waterfall is located and begin a walk through the interior of the jungle. During the journey we will save several slopes with stairs that are enabled along the way.
  • At the end of the trail we will cross a small river with a raft and we will find some thermal baths where we can bathe. Finally, about 10 minutes later, we will find the Carpishuyacu Waterfall where we will bathe in its two pools.
  • There we will also have a box lunch and once rested we will return to Tarapoto. The tour ends at 04.30 pm and we will leave you at your hotel.

Day 3: Canoe Expedition and Cave Walk (3.30 am – 5.00 pm)

  • 03.30 am We will pick you up at your hotel to head towards Rioja, where Santa Elena is located.
  • The trip has a duration of 2 hrs 30 min. approx. following the route of the Mayo River, one of the most important rivers in the San Martin region. Arriving at the reserve we will start the canoe ride of about 2 hours to observe the different species of animals in their natural habitat, breakfast, then we will head to the Cave of Palestina located in a small warm village of the same name.
  • There we will have lunch.
  • Then we will go to the caves of Palestina, the tour will be 1 hour and 30 approx. observing the formations of stalactites and stalagmites, then we will visit the butterfly farm.
  • 05.00 pm Return to Tarapoto.

Day 4: Rappel in Talliquihui (8.00 am – 1.00 pm)

  • 08.00 am We will pick you up at your hotel to go to the Talliquihui Waterfall where we will do the rappel activity.
  • After an hour’s drive, the guide will begin to assemble all the ropes necessary for the practice of the activity. During this time you will be able to swim in the waterfall.
  • After a previous preparation talk, the descent of the waterfall will begin with an approximate duration of 15 – 20 minutes per person.
  • Around 1.00 pm we will be back in Tarapoto and we will drop you off at your hotel.
