With the Tarapoto Waterfalls Tourism or “Waterfalls Routes” tour, you can enjoy nature while discovering the wildlife of the 4 most visited destinations in Tarapoto and the entire jungle in San Martin.  Tarapoto, is a city in central-eastern Peru on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, is the most populous city in the department of San Martin and the average annual maximum temperature is 29 ° C.

It is designed to discover one of the most beautiful and inhospitable natural parks of the Peruvian jungle: The Abiseo River National Park. You will go up the Abiseo River by boat and cross some of its most intense rapids. You will stop at several waterfalls and gorges where you can rest and bathe under its waters.

In addition, you will enter a cave to explore its deepest parts. In some sections you will be able to swim in the stagnant waters that are in its interior, you will also make an excursion through the middle of the jungle to know the spectacular waterfall of Breo where you will also be able to bathe.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival to Tarapoto

  • Upon arrival in Tarapoto we will be waiting for you at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
  • Dinner and overnight.

PERNOCTE: Hotel – RIOSOL

BREAKFAST – LUNCH AND DINNER – PASSENGER

Day 2: Paddling the Abyssus River (05.00 am – 06.00 pm)

  • 05.00 am We will pick you up at your hotel in Tarapoto.
  • We will leave in the direction of Huicungo (near Juanjui). The trip will take approximately 3 hours to our first stop at the interpretation center of the Abiseo River National Park where we will be explained what we can see in the Abiseo River National Park, what flora and fauna we can find and other information of interest.
  • Afterwards we will go to the Abiseo Aventura Lodge (2 hours by boat on the Abiseo River), which is located right at the entrance of the park and we will leave our personal belongings. From there we will return to the Abiseo River and take a boat to start the water route. We will go up the river against the current, crossing several rapids and stopping at different points where we will enter the jungle to find several waterfalls.
  • In each of them we will be able to bathe and rest before restarting the journey by boat. More or less half way we will stop for a box lunch.
  • Afterwards, at approximately 06.00 pm we will return to Abiseo Paradise Lodge where we will have a bonfire, dinner and tell stories of the jungle before spending the night.

Day 3: Cave Exploration

  • 08.00 am After breakfast we will go to the Abiseo River again to take the boat and dock it at the beginning of the road to the Cueva de los Franceses.
  • To get there we will hike for 1 hour and 30 minutes in the middle of the jungle. Once there, with the necessary equipment for the practice of the activity we will begin the descent into the interior, the cave has different levels of depth; in this excursion we will reach the seventh level.
  • Once we finish the exploration, we will return to Abiseo Lodge.
  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Visit to the Breo Waterfall

  • The day begins with breakfast at the lodge. Then we will take a boat to the Huayabamba River to go to the Breo Waterfall. Once there we will have time to relax and bathe in the waterfall and rest.
  • After that, we start our way back to Tarapoto arriving to the city of palm trees at 8.00 pm approximately.
  • Dinner and overnight in Tarapoto.

Day 5: Farewell to Tarapoto

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport.
