The Cusco Textile Route Tour invites you on an immersive cultural journey into the ancient textile secrets of the Incas. Located in the community of Huatata near Chinchero, you will meet local weaver associations who have preserved ancestral techniques using backstrap looms, natural plant and mineral dyes, and symbolic Tokapu iconography passed down through generations de Semana Santa.
09:00 am – Hotel Pick-Up and Journey to Chinchero & Huatata
Our tourist transportation will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. We will drive through scenic mountain roads toward Chinchero and continue 6 km further to the Huatata community de Semana Santa.
10:00 am – Welcome Reception with Traditional Local Culinary Treat
Upon arrival in Huatata, we will meet the Master Weavers Association (operating since 1986). We will be welcomed with a traditional local dish of roasted guinea pig (cuy) with baked potatoes before beginning our workshop de Semana Santa.
10:30 am – Step-by-Step Ancestral Textile Art Workshop
The artisans will demonstrate the full wool transformation cycle: shearing animals, washing wool with natural soaproot (Saqta), natural dyeing, spinning with the puska, thread twisting (k’anti), and weaving ponchos, chullos, and blankets on backstrap looms de Semana Santa.
01:00 pm – Community Lunch & Tokapu Symbolism Explanation
Enjoy a nourishing lunch prepared by the community. Artisans will explain the meaning of Tokapus (geometric squares) and zoomorphic figures that serve as visual Inca writing transmitting Andean cosmology de Semana Santa.
03:00 pm – Return Transfer to Cusco City
After an inspiring day connecting with living Inca traditions, we will board our tourist vehicle for the journey back across the Sacred Valley plateau to Cusco.
05:00 pm – Arrival at Cusco Hotel
Arrive in Cusco and transfer directly to your hotel, concluding an enriching textile heritage experience in the Andes de Semana Santa.
