With the Sacred Valley ATV Tour or “ATV in Maras & Moray – Piuray & Huaypo”, you can feel the thrill of riding on four wheels and overcome any road having fun in the mountains of Cusco. We will ride through the colorful fields and routes of the Sacred Valley, the salt mines of Maras, the archaeological site of Moray and the lakes of Piuray and Huaypo. The spectacular landscapes of the Andes and the climate of the Sacred Valley will turn this tour into a magical and fun ride.

The PIURAY & HUAYPO LAGOONS, are famous for the ancient legend that tells that the Sun God asked Manco Capac that his twin children accompanied him in his sunset and when the time came, they discovered that the son who walked farther had become the Huaypo lagoon and the daughter in the Piuray lagoon.

MARAS, is important for the extraction of salt. From the time of the Incas it was very transcendental for the mineral, indispensable for human consumption and in the time of the Colony it continued in the same way.

MORAY, was a center of crop experimentation used by the Incas for the acclimatization of products brought from other areas. Here you can see four concentric circular stone constructions forming a kind of rings that widen as they ascend. Their constructions are supported by strong stone walls; around the main construction one can observe platforms that form a kind of ironwork. There are those who believe that these constructions may have served as terraces or amphitheaters for civic-religious ceremonies and not only for agricultural use.

Day 1: Pick up from Hotel – Chinchero – Cruzpata – Maras – Moray -Piuray – Huaypo

• 06.20 – 06.50 am We will pick you up at your hotel.
• 07.00 am We will start the tour and head by minivan to our base in Cruzpata, Chinchero (50 min.).
• Here we will do a 15 minutes guided practice, then we will give you the equipment and the semi-automatic ATVs. We will also sign a commitment not to drive recklessly, to take care of the equipment and our lives.
• Once we are ready after the practice, we will start the tour towards the salt mines of MARAS, this town is important for the extraction of salt, since the time of the Incas was very important for the mineral, essential for human consumption and in the time of the Colony continued in the same way. We will advance up to a certain part in the ATVs and the rest we will do it in our transport, because there is an abyss and it is dangerous.
• In this tour we will be able to enjoy during the tour of impressive landscape views of the area and the snowy Veronica and Chicon, we will also travel towards the terraces of MORAY, a center of crop experimentation used by the Incas for the acclimatization of products brought from other areas. • Then we will advance to the PIURAY LAGOON, the Incas took their waters to Cusco through subway aqueducts and today the lagoon still provides water to the city of Cusco. • We will also tour the HUAYPO LAGOON, this beautiful lagoon of crystalline waters, is home to a great variety of fish and seasonal birds.
• Once finished the 7 hour tour, we will return to the base to board the minivan that will transfer us to the city of Cusco, we will arrive at 03.30 pm and we will leave you near the main square.
