CYCLING SUNDAYS
Every Sunday, Arequipa Avenue, one of the main arteries of the city, is closed to traffic between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.. During these hours you can enjoy the city by riding a bicycle, scooter, rollerblading or simply strolling along the avenue, which crosses the districts of Miraflores, San Isidro, Lince and reaches Downtown Lima. As a tourist, you have the possibility of renting bicycles, receiving urban cycling classes and all kinds of sports activities for free or at very low cost.
NIGHTS AT THE MALI
The Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI) is one of the most important cultural centers of the capital. Its exhibitions, activations and cultural events usually attract thousands of fans. Fortunately, on the last Friday of each month it has a very special program. Between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., it offers guided tours, workshops, access to its exhibitions and many other activities for all ages. The cost is only S/ 7.50 for an unforgettable cultural evening.
HUACAS OF LIMA
Lima is a city with a rich pre-Hispanic history. Archaeological remains of ancient Peruvian cultures are found throughout the capital. Among the most famous are the Huaca Pucllana in Miraflores, a very important ceremonial center in the history of the Lima, Wari and Ychsma Cultures. You can visit it on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. prior reservation at this link. The entrance fee is S/. 15, but the first Sunday of each month the entrance is free. The last weekend of every month, Downtown Lima, specifically the streets near the Plaza de Armas, are closed to automobile traffic to allow people to enjoy the public spaces. During these days you can find book fairs, street food, cultural activities in the streets and much more to make your visit to downtown Lima fun. Take advantage and visit the galleries, museums and cultural venues in the area such as the Museum of the Holy Inquisition, the Pancho Fierro Gallery, the Numismatic Museum, the Italian Museum, the Grau House, the Santo Domingo Convent and the House of Literature.
BEACHES OF THE GREEN COAST
Lima is the only capital of the American continent located in front of the sea. Both locals and visitors to the city know how to take advantage of this unique feature.
