The condor canyon or MIRADOR DE CHONTA, is a place where we can locate the Andean condor, called the sacred bird of the Incas, this place offers the majestic flight of the condor in its natural habitat and the impressive canyon of the Apurimac with more than 1500 meters deep.
QUILLARUMIYOC, in it you can observe terraces, symbols engraved on the largest rocks and an ancient temple dedicated to quilla (the moon), the feminine divinity. It presents a moon carved in low relief on a large rock of marine origin, the Inca architects carved this moon in a semicircle with the rim with an inner base. This semicircle has the shape of a crescent moon carved with 7 platforms, when seen from a distance it gives the impression of being the profile of a puma, where the carved crescent moon represents the eye of the feline.
TARAWASI, is an archaeological complex. It is composed of a great platform with walls of carved stones joined in a cellular style. We can find the stone altar, agricultural terraces, fountains and irrigation canals. Tarawasi is a compound word from Quechua, ″tara″ means thorny bush that bears fruit and “wasi” which means house.

The Mirador de Chonta or condor canyon is a specific place where you can see the majestic flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat. This place also offers views of the impressive Apurimac canyon with more than 1500 metres deep.
In addition to the Mirador de Condores, the archaeological sites of Quillarumiyoc and Tarawasi are visited.
No, the Mirador de Condores Tour in Cusco does not offer the option of a horseback riding tour. The tour focuses mainly on the hike to the Mirador de Condores and visits to the archaeological sites of Quillarumiyoc and Tarawasi.
The tour includes a 1 hour and 30 minutes walk to the Mirador de Cóndores, so it is recommended for people in good physical shape. It is not recommended for very young children or people with mobility difficulties.
The entrance fees to the sites of Tarawasi, Quillarumiyoc and the Mirador del Condor are not included. The costs are S/. 10.00 for each of the first two and S/. 30.00 for the viewpoint.
Due to the high altitude of Cusco and the physical activity involved in the tour, it is advisable to acclimatise a few days beforehand to avoid altitude sickness. Stay hydrated and well rested, and consult a doctor if you have symptoms or concerns.
