The Chonta Condor Viewpoint Tour is one of the most stunning wildlife and nature experiences near Cusco. During this journey, you will visit important archaeological sites like Killarumiyoc and Tarawasi before reaching the spectacular Apurímac Canyon, where you can witness the majestic flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat—one of the largest and most iconic birds in South America.
07:00 AM – Hotel pickup and journey to Limatambo
We will pick you up from your hotel in the city of Cusco to begin our journey in a tourist vehicle towards the district of Limatambo, enjoying beautiful Andean landscapes along the way.
09:30 AM – Visit to the Killarumiyoc Archaeological Sanctuary
Our first stop will be Killarumiyoc, an ancient Inca sanctuary dedicated to the Moon. Here, we will explore the famous rock carved in the shape of a half-moon, which was used as a ceremonial center connected to agricultural calendars and lunar phases.
11:00 AM – Visit to the Tarawasi Archaeological Complex
We will continue our route towards Tarawasi, an important archaeological site built during the reign of the Inca Pachacútec. We will tour its agricultural terraces, finely carved stone walls, irrigation channels, and ancient ceremonial enclosures.
12:00 PM – Lunch in Limatambo
After exploring the main archaeological attractions, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the district of Limatambo. Afterwards, we will continue our trip towards the community of Chonta, the starting point of our hike to the viewpoint.
02:00 PM – Hike to the Chonta Condor Viewpoint
We will begin a hike of approximately 4 kilometers (1 hour and 30 minutes) along trails surrounded by breathtaking Andean landscapes until we reach the famous Chonta Viewpoint. Throughout the walk, we will enjoy panoramic views of the Apurímac Canyon, considered one of the deepest in Peru.
03:30 PM – Observation of the Andean Condor’s flight
Upon reaching the viewpoint, we will have ample time to watch the majestic flight of the Andean condor in its natural habitat. From this privileged spot, we can also contemplate the vastness of the Apurímac Canyon and take photographs of one of the most spectacular landscapes in the Cusco region.
04:30 PM – Return to Chonta and journey back to Cusco
After enjoying this unforgettable experience, we will begin our descent back to the community of Chonta to board our tourist transport and return to the city of Cusco. We will conclude the tour near the Plaza de Armas or at your hotel, depending on your prior arrangements.
