06:30 AM – Hotel pickup and start of the journey
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to begin our tour toward the southern part of the region. For approximately three hours, we will travel through beautiful high-Andean landscapes until we reach the district of Pitumarca. We recommend taking this tour after one or two days of acclimatization in the city of Cusco.
09:00 AM – Breakfast in Pitumarca
Upon arriving in the district of Pitumarca, we will enjoy a breakfast to recharge our energies before continuing toward the rainbow mountains.
10:00 AM – Journey toward Palcoyo
We will continue the tour passing through Combapata and make a brief stop to appreciate the historic colonial bridge. Then, we will follow a road surrounded by Andean landscapes, observing herds of alpacas and llamas until we arrive at the community of Palcoyo.
11:30 AM – Arrival at Palcoyo and scenic walk
From the community, we will begin a walk of approximately 30 to 45 minutes along a gentle uphill trail. During the walk, we will enjoy incredible views of the three colored mountains, the Vilcanota Mountain Range, and the spectacular Stone Valley, one of the most surprising landscapes in the Andes.
12:00 PM – Exploration of the Stone Valley
After enjoying the colored mountains, we will continue toward the impressive Stone Valley, a natural formation composed of huge rocks sculpted by erosion over thousands of years. From the viewpoints, you will have spectacular panoramic views of the Vilcanota Mountain Range and all the high-Andean landscape surrounding Palcoyo.
01:30 PM – Buffet Lunch
After exploring Palcoyo, we will begin our descent toward Pitumarca, where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with a variety of typical dishes from Peruvian gastronomy.
03:00 PM – Return to Cusco
After lunch, we will undertake the return journey toward the city of Cusco. During the trip, you can rest and keep enjoying the landscapes of the Andes until arriving at approximately 06:30 PM.

Approximate walk of 1.5 km (round trip) along trails with a gentle slope. Recommended for people with previous acclimatization due to the altitude.
The main difference is the hike. Palcoyo offers a much shorter path with lower difficulty, whereas Vinicunca requires a more demanding trek. Both destinations exceed 4,900 m s. n. m. (16,076 ft) and feature impressive colored mountains, but Palcoyo receives fewer visitors, allowing you to enjoy the landscape with greater peace.
It is not necessary to be an experienced hiker. The walk is short and of easy to moderate difficulty, although due to the altitude, it is recommended to acclimatize in Cusco for one or two days before taking the tour.
The best season is between May and October, when sunny days predominate and the mountains show more intense colors. However, during the rainy season, the landscape takes on a special appeal thanks to the intense green color of the Andes.
