With the “Sacred Valley VIP Tour in Cusco”, you will enjoy the most appreciated valley by the Incas due to its special geographic and climatic qualities. We will take you through the main attractions of the Sacred Valley seeing impressive landscapes, mountains with glaciers, archaeological sites such as Chinchero, Salt Mines, Moray, Ollantaytambo and Pisaq.
The towns of the Sacred Valley seem to be frozen in time. Many customs are kept alive thanks to the efforts of the villagers themselves. In Pisac, there is a handicraft market that has its origins in the important commercial transactions during the Viceroyalty. In Chinchero, there are many textile centers that preserve the type of spinning inherited through many generations. In the Sunday market of this traditional town you can still barter or trade. The villagers still dress in their daily life with the typical costume of the locality.
CHINCHERO: 30 minutes from Cusco is Chinchero, a picturesque village where we will visit a community to appreciate a textile interpretation center, its well preserved Inca Wall in the main square and visit the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes in the portico, built on the foundations of an Inca building.
MARAS – SALINERAS: Known by some as “salt mines” This place is known as the salt mines is made up of about 3,000 salt wells. It is built on the mountain of Kachi Qata, where salt water comes out in this place was very prestigious. You have to start climbing some stairs rigorously well traced and at the top is the masterpiece of Inca architects and stonecutters.
OLLANTAYTAMBO, is the only living Inca city, which is preserved almost intact and their houses still serve as homes where their descendants dwell. The design of the city, its axes, its urban structure, the beauty of the volumes and its play of light and shadow attract everyone. The main temple has a frontispiece with six pink granite monoliths brought from another place and perfectly assembled in the stone.
PISAC: The most extensive of the fortresses of the Sacred Valley and of the entire Inca civilization is that of Pisac. Nestled on a steep rocky promontory, the roads leading to it defy precipices and pass through tunnels carved into the rock. The heart of the settlement comprises a temple dedicated to the Sun or intihuatana, which includes some of the most exquisite examples of Inca architecture in canteada stone.
PISAC CRAFTS MARKET: Located in the main square of Pisac, colorful and cheerful place where the most famous Cusco handicrafts made by Andean hands are exhibited, among the handicrafts, stand out textile pieces, ponchos, bags, etc. and ceramic crafts, these are reproductions of Inca archaeological pieces, such as the queros (ceremonial vessels), necklaces, etc.. This fair is attended by merchants and indigenous artisans from many villages dressed in their typical costumes.
The tour of the Sacred Valley VIP, is a totally different way to make the tour to the Sacred Valley Classic, as it takes better advantage of the day, keep in mind that Ollantaytambo town that is part of the Sacred Valley circuit is the train station that takes us to the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
